The Meaning of Style
Style doesn’t have to be an inborn quality, but it’s something that we can all learn through the right guidance.
Always a popular subject that never fails to fascinate most women, while at the same time it can become a challenge, create confusion or even daunting feelings to some others.
Take some time now to give a little thought: what does the word “style” mean to you? Naturally, the vast array of answers would confirm that style means different things to different people and that is the evidence that style is a totally personal matter and needs to be tailored to each woman.
Here are some common misconceptions with a sabotaging effect on style and ultimately on ourselves:
“I’m not young enough to look great and be stylish”, “I’m not interested in fashion”, “I can’t be stylish because of my size”, “I’m a busy mum”. “Someone needs to have a lot of money to be stylish”.
Style is definitely not the domain of the young fashionistas only, but it comes from knowing how to choose clothes that work well for you because they suit your unique body shape, age, personality and of course your lifestyle.
Moreover, style is about embracing your age, your figure and who you really are.
Effortless, low-maintenance style can come from even the most simple of outfits in colours that flatter your features, simple accessories, natural makeup and fabulous hair.
It cannot be stressed too much how much every woman would benefit from learning what body shape she has and her best colours before hitting the shops for new clothes. No more wrong choices ending up in style disasters.
Never again feeling unhappy with your figure or having no confidence when purchasing outfits. No more unworn clothes in the wardrobe and money wasted.
To recognise good quality where it really matters in our wardrobe is very important, yet to recognise style doesn’t just come from looking at a price tag!
Undoubtedly, great styles can also be achieved without having to break the bank, and learning how to make good use of accessories can quickly and inexpensively transform your existing outfits.
Finally, fashion is about trends but style is timeless and it’s about knowing what suits you...or as Coco Chanel put it “fashion fades, only style remains the same."
It is essential to know what our personal style is, not only because this is the key to looking great on every occasion but also because how we look on the outside is absolutely linked with how we feel on the inside!
